What is the difference between parent coaching and counseling?
Parental Counselling allows parents to discuss their parenting concerns, challenges, and experiences. With ongoing sessions, the counsellor supports the client in identifying the reasons for their personal feelings and behaviours and offers ways to handle a particular issue. The parent can learn more about their parenting style and how it impacts their interaction with their children.
Parent Consulting focuses on the here, now and future. Success in Steps's method identifies the "why" behind the behaviour and what is "maintaining" it. From there, tailored strategies are developed to best support your family's strengths and needs, along with identified goals. It's not uncommon for some clients to come to us after experiencing counselling, as the two approaches have their benefits.
